Anticipated Temporary Special Education Aide

The Wattsburg Area School District is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, and personable individual to work as Special Education Aide through the end of the 2026-2027 school year.  The ideal candidate will be cooperative, hard-working and reliable. This role works directly with students with disabilities in a multitude of learning environments working 1: 1 or in small groups.

Shift: First Shift, Monday through Friday when students are in session

Pay Rate: $19.23 per hour, 7 hours per day, 180 days per school year

Key Responsibilities:

• Aides will assist teachers with preparing materials for a variety of needs within the classroom.
• Basic computer usage needed to assist students with their computer devices.
• There may be an opportunity for additional hours through the monitoring of students on assigned bus routes.
• Necessary trainings and certifications for this position are provided and include current CPR and First Aid Certifications, de-escalation strategies through Handle with Care and/or Ukeru, and 20 yearly hours of continuing education.

Qualifications:

• All applicants must have an associate's degree or competency through a locally given assessment.
• Interested individuals must be well-organized, energetic, have a strong desire to help students, and assist faculty members.
• Maintain a pleasant and positive attitude.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit, stand, walk and move around the classroom.
• Ability to lift and carry items as necessary in the classroom.

Required Clearances and Documentation:

• Act 34, 114, and 151 clearances less than 1 year old
• Act 126 Mandated Reporter Training less than 5 years old
• Act 168 Sexual Abuse/Misconduct Disclosure
• Health physical less than 1 year old
• Tuberculin skin test less than 3 months old
