Knox County Landfill Superintendent

The Knox County Landfill is responsible for ensuring a reliable, cost effective, landfill infrastructure that meets all state and federal requirement.

In this challenging leadership position, candidates will assist the Landfill Director in leading the daily operations of the Knox County Landfill. The idea candidate will be a proven leader with demonstrated experience in successfully leading and developing work teams: and excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills; a flexible, practical and creative problem solver; have a proven track record of encouraging and promoting safety culture; and have the ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with both co-workers and customers.

All candidates must possess or have the ability to obtain a State of Illinois Class A Solid Waste Site Operator Certification with a Nonhazardous Special Waste Endorsement, within two years of hire date. Candidates should have at least five years supervisory experience; possess a CDL class A drivers licenses with a tanker endorsement or have the ability to get one within one year; have experience operating heavy equipment: and have knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
