 Assistant Director, Center for the Advancement of Women The Assistant Director supports the strategic, operational, and programmatic leadership of the Center for the Advancement of Women (CAW). As the scope, complexity, and institutional impact of the Center's work continue to expand, this leadership-level position provides increased strategic capacity, cross-divisional coordination, and continuity of operations. Reporting directly to the Director of CAW, the Assistant Director advances the Center's mission through leadership in communications, research and publication dissemination, program development and coordination, event management, and institutional and community partnerships. The position exercises independent judgment, represents the Center in internal and external settings, and helps ensure the effective execution of the Center's priorities and initiatives.
Work Location: Doheny Campus (Downtown Los Angeles) and Chalon Campus (West Los Angeles). Hybrid work schedule available with supervisor approval.

Annual Salary Rate Range: $74,585.56 - $76,000.00
Monthly Salary Rate Range: $6,215.4634 - $6,333.34
Hiring salary can be above the posted pay range if candidate's qualifications are determined to be above the minimum requirements of the position description.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Representing the Center in cross-campus and external engagements when the Director is unavailable, requiring discretion, professionalism, and the ability to make informed decisions consistent with the Center's mission and University priorities.
- Managing institutional communications, publications, programs, events, and public-facing research products with statewide and national reach. This work requires careful judgment, strong writing and editing skills, attention to detail, creativity, and sensitivity to complex issues related to gender equity.
- Coordinating multifaceted initiatives involving faculty, staff, students, donors, funders, community organizations, government representatives, and other partners. The Assistant Director must anticipate challenges, balance competing priorities, resolve problems independently, and maintain productive relationships across diverse groups.
- Exercising initiative in developing and improving communications strategies, programs, research dissemination methods, operational processes, and partnership opportunities that strengthen the Center's reach and impact.
- Organizing projects with overlapping timelines, including research publications, institutional communications, public programs, grant-supported initiatives, and special events, while ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely completion.
- Supporting fiscal administration and operational continuity, including monitoring expenditures, coordinating vendor and partner activities, event planning, maintaining records, and helping fulfill obligations connected to donors, grants, sponsorships, and institutional partnerships.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Have availability to work some evenings and weekends.
- Must be available to attend meetings, events, and programs at both the Chalon and Doheny campuses, as required.
- Must be available to attend external meetings, events, conferences, and programs, as required.
Job Requirements:
Knowledge:
- Strong knowledge of professional report writing, editing, proofreading, formatting, and publication practices.
- Strong public-speaking and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively to diverse internal and external audiences.
- Knowledge of collaborative practices and demonstrated ability to work effectively across departments, offices, and divisions to advance shared institutional priorities.
- Knowledge of gender equity and inclusion practices
- General knowledge of higher education administration
- Sufficient working knowledge of computers and word-processing, spreadsheet, database, and other software applications necessary to perform the position's responsibilities.
Abilities and Skills:
- Develop, write, edit, proofread, and format high-quality research reports, publications, and other public-facing materials.
- Deliver engaging presentations and communicate complex information clearly and effectively to diverse internal and external audiences.
- Establish collaborative relationships and work effectively across departments, offices, and divisions to advance shared institutional priorities.
- Manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines independently while using appropriate technology and exercising sound judgment, initiative, and attention to detail.
Education:
- Master's degree required.
- Enrollment in Doctoral degree in a field commensurate with job posting preferred.
Experience:
- Direct experience with research, report writing, editing, and develop, write, edit, proofread, and format high-quality research reports, publications, and other public-facing materials.
- Experience working with higher education departments, internal and external partners.
- 3-5 years of experience report writing
- 3-5 years of experience in higher education setting
