Squaxin Island Tribe Job Description Job Title: Summer Rec Assistant (6 positions available) Department: Parks & Recreation Reports To: Youth Activities Lead, Kasia Seymour FLSA Status: Non-Exempt TS Range: 3/4 ($17.35 hourly) Opening Date: April 24, 2026 Closing Date: Open Until Filled SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Summer Rec Program Coordinator, the Summer Rec Program Assistant is responsible for the supervision of children, ages 5-12; is responsible for conducting a variety of safe, fun, and interesting activities. Also is responsible for developing a positive relationship with his/her group in a safe environment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: There are no supervisory responsibilities with this position. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: One year of prior experience working one on one with children ages 5-12 and a High School Diploma or GED and one year relevant experience, OR 3 years of relevant work experience working one on one with children ages 5-12. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but involved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Current Washington State Driver’s License preferred. Must pass WATCH and Tribal Court Background Check. Must have CPR/First Aid certification, or be able to obtain it within the pre-program staff training. ANY VIOLATION OF THESE POLICIES IS CAUSE FOR IMMEDIATE TERMINATION.
