The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of GIS Technician. Under general supervision, performs a variety of technical office and field work duties related to the creation and maintenance of maps, tables, graphs, and other geographic source data with the use of enterprise GIS, permitting, and asset management systems; provides technical support and queried data to department staff, other County departments, outside agencies, consultants, contractors, developers, and the public; and performs related work as assigned.
Ideal Candidate for the job:
- Demonstrates strong technical proficiency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), including experience with enterprise GIS platforms, permitting systems, and asset management tools.
- Possesses the ability to create, maintain, and analyze maps, tables, graphs, and other geographically referenced data with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Skilled in collecting, organizing, and managing spatial and non-spatial data from a variety of sources.
- Effectively performs both office-based and fieldwork assignments, including data verification and field data collection.
- Provides clear, accurate, and timely technical support and data analysis to internal staff, external agencies, consultants, contractors, developers, and the public.
- Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to query, interpret, and present complex data sets.
- Communicates technical information clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, to a wide range of audiences with varying levels of technical expertise.
- Works collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders while maintaining a high level of customer service.
- Manages multiple priorities and assignments effectively, meeting deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
- Exercises sound judgment, initiative, and adaptability while working under general supervision.
- Maintains accuracy, consistency, and integrity of data within enterprise systems.
- Demonstrates a commitment to continuous learning and staying current with evolving GIS technologies and industry best practices.
Education and Experience:
MINIMUM: 60 semester or 90 quarter units from an accredited college with major coursework in geography, computer science, engineering, geographic information systems, or a related field, and one (1) year of GIS or automated mapping experience. Relevant technical experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Salary/Compensation: $5,311 - $5,843 per month
