SALARY INFORMATION:
This position will be placed on the College 12-month Non-Exempt Staff salary scale at Grade 1. Actual salary placement based on qualifications and experience. Position includes an excellent fringe benefit package.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position involves a medium level of physical effort. It requires the ability to occasionally lift heavy items and stand, stoop, and bend for longer periods of time. Frequently or constantly moving to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects such as waste receptacles, furniture, vacuum cleaner etc. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:
- Hear/talk/communicate – Must be able to exchange information and communicate
- Visual acuity - Ability to perceive or detect surroundings
- Mental acuity – Ability to focus, concentrate, understand and convey subject matter
- Repetitive motion
- Stand/sit/walk – Ability to move or traverse from one area to another
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
College campus, direct contact with students, staff, faculty and the general public including, but not limited to, common and shared areas, classrooms, offices, restrooms, stairways, dining areas etc. Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions with periodic exposure to chemicals (cleaning) and bodily fluids. Additional precautions typical of custodial duties in such places as office or meeting and training rooms, e.g., use of safe workplace practices with cleaning and office equipment, computers for data entry and word processing with some highly technical applications and new technology systems; avoidance of trips and falls, observance of workplace, fire and building safety regulations and all College policies.
To qualify for employment, selected candidates must:
* successfully complete a criminal background check (for designated positions)
* be able to work on campus as of the first day of employment
* Residency restrictions apply. The College does not hire solely online instructors living outside of Maryland. Carroll employees may live in other states, but they must physically work in Maryland the majority of the time. For income tax obligations, employees must be a resident of DC, VA, WV, MD, or PA on the date employment commences. In addition, candidates must be willing to come to campus for identity verification within 3 business days of hire date.
