Are you looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community? Meals on Wheels of Eau Claire County is seeking compassionate Volunteer Drivers to deliver more than just a meal. As a volunteer, you are a vital lifeline for our homebound neighbors, providing them with the nutrition and social connection they need to remain independent in their homes.

What You’ll Do

• Deliver Nourishment: Transport prepared meals to seniors and individuals in need within our community.

• Provide Connection: Offer a friendly greeting and a quick wellness check—for many of our neighbors, you may be the only person they see that day.

• Support Independence: Help our neighbors stay healthy and safe in their own homes.

Time Commitment & Benefits

• Flexible Scheduling: We work with your availability! Whether you can help once a week or once a month, we have a spot for you.

• Short Shifts: Most routes take only 1 to 1.5 hours to complete.

• Mileage Reimbursement: We value your time and contribution; mileage reimbursement is available to help cover your travel costs.

When people think of volunteering with the ADRC, they usually associate it with Strong Bodies, Dementia programs, and, of course, Meals on Wheels. Many believe that the programs or meals are the most critical elements for our participants, but this is a common misconception. While these services are certainly valuable, it is actually the volunteers who shine as the “stars” of the day for those we serve.

For many individuals, you might be the only person they interact with throughout the day or even for several days. A warm smile and a simple “How’s it going?” or “Is it cold enough for you?” can truly brighten their day. One family member shared how their parent often calls to recount the conversation they had with the volunteer before mentioning what was served that day. They expressed heartfelt gratitude for the kindness shown to their loved one when they cannot be there.
