The City of Eugene Public Works Engineering Division is recruiting for a Civil Engineer 1/2. The Civil Engineer 1/2 performs complex professional engineering work in the planning, investigation, and design of public works projects. The successful candidate will be involved in a wide range of infrastructure projects with a focus on transportation-related topics. As a member of the Transportation Engineering Team, they will provide technical expertise to support the Capital Projects Design and Construction Teams. Depending upon the knowledge, skills, and abilities possessed by the successful applicant, this position may be filled as either a Civil Engineer 1 or Civil Engineer 2.

Salary Range
:

Civil Engineer 1: $42.04 - $47.62 / hourly; $87,443.20 - $99,049.60 / annually

Civil Engineer 2: $44.83 - $60.52 / hourly; $93,246.40 - $125,881.60 / annually

A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Civil Engineer 1 & 2

Education

Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited college or university, with major course work in Civil Engineering, or related field(s).

License or Certificate

A valid Oregon driver's license or, the ability to obtain by date of hire; must pass driving records check and, if hired, maintain a driving record that meets the City's standard. Oregon law requires that an out-of-state license holder must obtain a valid Oregon license (with appropriate endorsements) within 30 days of becoming domiciled in the state (ORS 803.355).

Civil Engineer 1

Experience

Two years directly related civil engineering experience, and

Possession of a Fundamentals in Engineering (EIT) certificate.

Civil Engineer 2

Experience

Five years of professional civil engineering experience including one year of supervisory experience, and

Possession of a State of Oregon Certificate of Registration as a professional traffic or civil engineer, or ability to obtain by reciprocity within 6 months of hire date.
