The Sr Manager of Cybersecurity will lead Gannett's security engineering and incident response teams to protect our digital assets and infrastructure. This role demands deep expertise in cybersecurity controls, incident response, and risk management, paired with a hands-on leadership style.
The successful candidate will be both strategic and operational-actively engaging with tools and systems, working on support tickets, and configuring policies. They will lead by example, setting a high bar for technical excellence and accountability.
Strong organizational skills are essential. The candidate must be adept at managing multiple priorities, planning effectively, and maintaining focus in dynamic environments. Prioritization and follow-through are critical to success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of security engineers and analysts, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of security systems and infrastructure.
- Manage the cybersecurity incident response team to ensure rapid and effective resolution of security incidents.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, organizational policies, and documentation.
- Manage and optimize SIEM and logging tools for comprehensive monitoring and threat detection.
- Oversee vulnerability management and EDR/XDR platforms to proactively identify and mitigate risks.
- Track cybersecurity metrics and KPIs, providing regular reports to senior leadership.
- Stay abreast of emerging threats, trends, and technologies in the cybersecurity landscape.
- Ensure compliance of security controls with relevant standards and regulations (e.g., NIST CSF, SOX, PCI, SOC2, HIPAA).
- Collaborate cross-functionally to embed security into all aspects of company operations.
- Be available for off-hours response to critical security threats.
Qualifications:
- Security certifications such as CISSP or CISM are required.
- Expertise required in Microsoft security products: Defender for Endpoint, Entra, Defender for Cloud Apps, Purview, and Sentinel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; proven ability to collaborate across teams.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills; ability to perform under pressure.
- Minimum 8 years of cybersecurity experience, including 2+ years in a leadership role.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security or related field, advanced degree or industry certifications preferred.
- Deep understanding of security frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST CSF 2.0, OWASP Top 10, CIS CSC, MITRE ATT&CK).
- Experience across cloud, network, and application security domains.

The annualized base salary for this role will range between $135,000 and $143,000 Base compensation is reflective of many factors, including, but not limited to, the market in which one lives/works, individual education level, skills, certifications and experience. Note: variable compensation is not reflected in these figures and based on the role, may be applicable.
