Faculty Fellow The Department of Religious Studies in the Faculty of Arts and Science at New York University invites applications for an appointment as a Faculty Fellow. The appointment will be for one year beginning September 1, 2026, renewable annually for a maximum of three years, pending administrative and budgetary approval. Candidates must have completed a Ph.D. in the field of Religious Studies no earlier than three years before the date of appointment and have a strong commitment to teaching and to developing their projects in the context of the Department's interdisciplinary activities. We seek applicants whose area of historical or contemporary research lies in South Asian religions. The ideal candidate will combine a grasp of relevant languages and sources and a serious engagement with the theoretical study of religion. Interest in the intersections of religion with social, economic, and political formations (whether in the past or present) is especially welcome. The candidate should be prepared to teach Theory and Methods in the Study of Religion, South Asian Religions, and one other course, the nature of which will in part depend upon their qualifications. In compliance with NYCs Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this position is $60,000.
