Senior Transportation Planner
Metro Plan Orlando, the metropolitan planning organization for Orange, Osceola and Seminole Counties, is looking for a full-time Senior Transportation Planner to support our regional transportation planning efforts.

The primary responsibilities of this role are to implement transportation planning projects, special studies, and manage the Transportation Improvement Program.
Key Responsibilities: • Responsible for the preparation and maintenance of the Transportation Improvement Program, including planning consistency with the Metropolitan Transportation Plan and Prioritized Project List. • Responsible for the on-time and on-budget delivery of transportation-oriented projects. Projects may include, but are not limited to, roadway, pedestrian, or bicycle improvements, transit projects, and other mobility-related projects. • Provide professional assistance and technical expertise for all transportation related projects and initiatives. • Coordinate or participate in transportation activities with other municipalities and outside agencies, and may represent the MPO on various boards, subcommittees, task forces, project advisory committees, or other working groups as assigned. • Respond to citizen inquiries; represent organization at various events, functions or meetings. • Assist in developing and maintaining positive working relationships with governmental agencies, transportation operating agencies, and the business community. • Provide staff support to the MPO Board, Committees, and various subcommittees. • Provides top quality customer service to everyone doing business with Metro Plan Orlando. • Travel to and from various regional project locations and other government agencies. • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Masters degree from an accredited college or university in urban planning, public administration, transportation planning, civil engineering, or related field and five (5) years of experience; or a Bachelors degree and seven (7) years of experience in transportation planning and/or engineering; or may substitute an equivalent combination of education and experience. • Comprehensive knowledge of the theories, principles, practices, and techniques of transportation systems planning. • Ability to develop research methodologies, supervise the collection and analysis of complex data, develop short- and long-range plans, prepare and present technical reports and communicate complex ideas effectively, orally and in writing, to both technical and public audiences. • Ability to manage projects and project teams effectively. • AICP and/or PE encouraged
Physical Requirements: The work environment for this position is an office setting with some in-field activities. Most duties are performed sitting at a desk or table. This position must be able to: · Remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. · Respond quickly to sounds and visual cues and respond to dangerous situations. · Lift and carry, or otherwise move, 25 pounds occasionally. · Move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces. · Wear personal protective gear correctly as situation requires. · Work occasionally in non-hazardous outdoor weather conditions.
