| Western Michigan University (WMU) invites applications and nominations for a tenure-track, academic year position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the School of Environment, Geography, and Sustainability (SEGS) on the WMU main campus, effective fall 2026. Major Responsibilities:  
 Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in geography and environmental studies, including introduction to geospatial technologies, cartographic design, remote sensing, UAS applications, GIS, spatial analysis and geographic inquiry/research Develop an active, externally-funded research program Serve on MS (Geography) thesis committees Mentor undergraduate and graduate students Serve on department and university committees Other duties as determined and assigned by the Director of SEGS Minimum Qualifications:  
 PhD in Geography or related discipline, with specialization in GI Science, awarded by August 14, 2026  Ability to teach introductory geospatial technologies, cartographic design, spatial analysis, remote sensing, and unoccupied aerial system (UAS) applications Ability to conduct research using geospatial technologies (GI Science and UAS)  Desired Qualifications:  
 PhD in Geography or related field with specialization in application of geospatial technologies such as geographic information systems, remote sensing, spatial analysis, and UAS  Demonstrated record of success teaching introductory geospatial technologies, cartographic design, spatial analysis, remote sensing and/or UAS application courses  Record of research and publication in GI Science and related areas Evidence of commitment to diversity and inclusion through publications, mentoring, teaching, and/or service in an academic or related setting Required application documents: Apply at www.wmujobs.org/hr.
