BRIEF DESCRIPTION: The Community Wellness and Outreach Coordinator is a vital component of Eddy County's initiative to combat alcohol-related harm within the community. This role involves planning, developing, and executing targeted prevention programs aimed at reducing Driving While Impaired (DWI) offenses, binge drinking, underage drinking, and other forms of alcohol-related harm. The coordinator will work collaboratively with local law enforcement, schools, and other local non-profit organizations to create educational campaigns, workshops, and outreach initiatives that raise awareness about the dangers of alcohol misuse. They will also gather and analyze data to identify specific risk factors within the community, tailoring programs to address these challenges effectively. By fostering community engagement and promoting healthy lifestyle choices, the coordinator plays an important role in creating a safer, healthier environment for all residents in Eddy County. Employee may be required to work irregular hours, overtime, attend job-related meetings, in and out of state, and perform all other duties as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the Carlsbad DWI School and serve as the senior DWI School Facilitator
- Oversee the DWISE Victim Impact Program, providing education through real-life narratives
- Develop and manage alcohol prevention initiatives in alignment with county goals
- Maintain accurate records and update the Prevention section of the Management Data System
- Prepare reports and documentation as directed by the DWI Program Manager
- Participate in monthly DWI Program Advisory Council meetings
- Collaborate with community partners and stakeholders to support prevention efforts
- Perform other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education- High School Diploma or GED required. Degree in Behavioral Health preferred. Experience- Experience working in substance abuse prevention and education preferred. Experience working with the court systems and legal processes preferred. Qualifications- Ability to work independently; prioritize workload; work in a stressful environment and maintain a high level of concentration. Background- Must successfully pass criminal and employment background investigations. Eligibility to work in the U.S. verified thru E-Verify. Pre-Employment Testing- All job offers are contingent upon successfully passing a pre-employment drug screening. Communication- Effective oral and written communication skills in English required. Bilingual is preferred. Must be able to communicate verbally with co-workers, as well as the public. License- Must have, or ability to obtain, a valid NM driver’s license and be insurable by the County Insurance Authority. MUST PROVIDE A CURRENT DRIVING RECORD. Certification- Prevention certification is required. Must be willing to travel to trainings for prevention certification. Must obtain a DWI School Facilitator certification within the first year of employment
