Statutory Reporting Manager / Assistant Controller

Position Overview:
Concert Group is entering an exciting phase of rapid growth, and we’re seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented professional to join our Finance team as a Statutory Reporting Manager / Assistant Controller. This dual-role position is critical to building a strong financial foundation that supports strategic decision-making and operational excellence.
In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and submitting timely and accurate financial statements that are compliant with accounting standards, tax regulations and corporate government requirements. You will drive strategic insights through financial reporting, oversee core accounting operations, and help implement new tools and systems that will serve as the building blocks of our evolving finance infrastructure. You’ll thrive in a dynamic, small-company environment and bring a proactive, hands-on approach to strategic financial planning, internal controls, and reporting accuracy.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee all aspects of statutory accounting, ensuring accurate and timely preparation and submission of statutory filings, exhibits, and schedules in compliance with NAIC requirements
- Coordinate with underwriting, credit and reinsurance to timely and accurately prepare statement and reports
- Maintain strong expertise in SSAPs, monitor NAIC updates
- Assure timely and accurate reporting of investments and taxes that are compliant
- Implement new accounting standards and updates, ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the accounting close process and day-to-day operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll.
- Analyze monthly and quarterly financial fluctuations to identify key performance drivers and deliver actionable insights to senior leadership.
- Facilitate financial audits with internal and external auditors to ensure transparency and compliance.
- Collaborate with the Controller to design and strengthen internal controls within areas of responsibility.
- Contribute to ad-hoc analyses, system implementations/enhancements, business integrations, and other special projects aligned with department goals.
- Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders through proactive communication and professional collaboration.
- Develop and mentor team members to promote knowledge sharing and support professional growth.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting and financial reporting, preferably in insurance or financial services.
- Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP and statutory accounting requirements. Strong proficiency in Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Net Suite) a plus.
- Ability to translate complex financial data into strategic insights for non-financial stakeholders.
