Phoenix Art Museum is looking for an Assistant Registrar to perform various registration and collection management functions as assigned by the Registrar, including the proper handling, installation, shipping, receiving, documentation, storage and preservation of works of art in the Museum's permanent collection, loans, and special exhibitions.
Job Duties:
- Record the condition, receipt, shipment and location of all works of art both inside and outside the Museum. Generate paperwork relating to object movement including loan contracts, receipts, and movement reports.
- Arrange shipping works of art via carriers and transportation methods that are in compliance with the Museum's fine arts insurance policy. Assist in the packing, unpacking, crating, uncrating, loading, unloading, and storage of works of art.
- Create and maintain digital and hard copy records of permanent collection, loans, and special exhibitions.
- Assist with exhibitions including coordination of installation schedule, working with exhibition coordinator/designer, curators, preparators, security, and couriers.
- Arrange for courier travel including hotel accommodation, airfare, per diem.
- Assist annual vault inventories. Continue the Museum initiative to add barcode tags and labels to all permanent collection objects for inventory management purposes.
- Act as a courier for Museum traveling exhibitions and outgoing loans.
- Assist the Associate Registrar of Collections with processing new acquisitions (as needed).
- Assist with Phoenix Art Museum-initiated traveling exhibitions as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in art history or museum studies required; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum two years' experience in museum registration, collections management or related field, and experience with collections management systems (TMS preferred).
Knowledge of:
- Professional museum standards and procedures
- Registration procedures and methods, art handling, shipping and condition reporting
- Microsoft Office.

- Exhibit strong organizational skills, maintain attention to detail, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects independently with minimal supervision.
- Foster positive interpersonal relationships and manage interactions with confidentiality, discretion, and ethical integrity
- Work effectively in a team environment and collaborate across departments to achieve shared goals.
