Position Title: Training and Development Specialist (3 Positions Available)
Annual Salary: $61,000 to $63,000
Location: Buffalo/Albany (hybrid)
FTE: Full Time Position
Scope of Responsibility:
Learning, Engagement, and Development Services (LEADS) at SUNY Buffalo State University is seeking a Training and Development Specialist in Albany will work to provide training, technical assistance, and other activities as requested to support OTDA initiatives related to training its field-based staff. This includes the Department of Social Services district staff at various locations.
Job Duties:
- Participate in the training development, delivery, feedback, and modification process by assisting in the implementation of systems enhancements, including browser-based systems functionality;
- Provide one-on-one training, overview and classroom instruction to Department of Social Services district staff at various field locations;
- Provide and/or develop in-house WMS training pertaining to new software releases;
- Prepare written training documentation and administrative reports;
- Develop automated reports from the WMS database used to identify policy related deficiencies in the operational environment;
- Develop case examples and initiate support procedures to maintain the training database;
- Provide individual case processing support;
- Monitor policy application and provide related training;
- Monitor implementation;
- Perform related activities such as system testing, WMS inquiry, etc.;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of one year experience in the implementation, training, planning, or operation of a human services-related program with a preferred emphasis on Temporary Assistance or at least two years of relevant experience providing technology training or related activities working within a large data base environment.
- Excellent communication skills;
- Proficient in the use of standard computer applications including MS Office;
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field;
- Two years of experience providing social or human services training or related activities;
- Specific knowledge or experience in the delivery of social services programs such as TA, HEAP, or SNAP
- Experience working in or with a community-based organization, state, or county social services agency
- Familiarity and experience using Web conferencing technology (i.e., Zoom, Web Ex)
- Experience using Abode Acrobat Pro
Physical requirements:
Must be able to:
- Ability to move heavy boxes;
- Ability to carry A/V equipment;
- Ability to arrange classroom furniture for training room set-up;
- Ability to travel long distances.
Travel Requirements: Must be able to travel throughout New York State to deliver training, technical assistance, or attend meetings as needed.
