Position Summary: The Kennel Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the health, safety, and daily care of the family-owned animals. This role includes managing feeding schedules, providing care, coordinating travel arrangements, addressing animal emergencies as they arrive, and assisting in support of overall ranch operations. The Kennel Supervisor is flexible and proactive in the maintenance and care of the animals and uses good judgment to adjust and handle the needs of the animals. This position reports to the Ranch Manager.
Responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Manage feeding, grooming, and exercise schedules for all animals
- Coordinate veterinary care, including regular checkups, vaccinations, and emergency medical needs.
- Develop and implement dietary and supplement plans to ensure the animals’ health and well-being.
- Maintain cleanliness of kennels, feeding areas, and other animal spaces.
- Plan and oversee all travel arrangements for animals, ensuring their safety and comfort during transport.
- Travel with animals as necessary to ensure their care, safety, and well-being during trips
- Maintain records of feeding schedules, health and veterinary updates, medical treatments, and travel plans.
- Create and enforce policies for animal care and safety.
- Accurate and timely submission of expense reports.
- Be on-call for animal-related emergencies, making quick decisions in urgent situations, administering first aid as needed, and coordinating with veterinary professionals to address medical concerns.
- Administer medications and provide first aid as needed.
- All other miscellaneous duties, as assigned.
Requirements:
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently.
- Strong organizational and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Willingness to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Must be available for animal-related emergencies outside of the scheduled hours as needed.
- Experience with dog training is a plus but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working outdoors or in various weather conditions
- Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods of time as required by animal care duties.
- Ability to respond to emergencies and travel as needed, which may require extended hours of physical activity.
