DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM LABORER
The North Fayette County Municipal Authority is taking applications, which can be picked up at 1634 University Drive Dunbar PA until September 10, 2025, for a full time laborer position meeting the following job description.
DUTIES
The laborer reports directly to the working foreman assigned to his/her crew. The laborer must have the knowledge and ability to work around excavating equipment and dump trucks safely. The laborer is responsible for the maintenance work of the distribution system and facilities, property and equipment, maintenance of the rights of way, janitorial work, traffic control, right of way clearing and operation of power tools (jack hammer, lawn mower, tractor with brush hog, cut off saws, compactor, road pavement saws, manual shift vehicles and automatic transmission vehicles, traffic directional arrow boards, and pneumatic hand tools). The laborer must be capable of clearly speaking, writing and reading English. Overtime work is a necessity and required.*** QUALIFICATIONS Good physical condition is required for this position. Physical labor is always part of the 8-hour shift and overtime. Physically the person in this position must be capable of lifting 85# to the waist and 60# to the chest and 40# repetitively to the waist. Capable of walking 30 degree inclines for distances of 1,000 feet and climbing vertical ladders to a height of 50 feet, ascend and descend stairs and stationary vertical ladders as part of normal work activity and in emergency egress situations. The laborer shall be capable of hand digging areas with spaded shovels, spread asphalt with flat shovels, using wrenches, socket sets, scrapping pipe, threading pipe, reading tape measures and calibers and lifting equipment or material. The laborer shall possess a valid PA Commercial Driver's License at all times in the performance of his duties. Must be able to stop, kneel, bend, push, pull and crawl without discomfort. Must be able to grip and use hand tools, and display fine motor skills. Must have a full range of motion, without limitation and/or discomfort, of both arms and legs. Must be able to work in areas that may require the donning of personal protective equipment including eye protection, approved hearing protection, gloves, safety shoes/boots, and hardhat. The type of work the laborer will be performing requires work boots, work clothing (long pants) shirts and items that a laborer may want for protection from the environment. Personal cell phone calls during working hours are prohibited. Do expect to be exposed to the outdoor environment and the conditions expressed in this letter.
