Position Description The University of Washington Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine has an academic anesthesiologist position available at the rank of Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice. This position is either full-time or part-time with an anticipated start date of December 2025 or thereafter. This position is also not tenure-track and not eligible for tenure. Duties include the teaching of residents, fellows, medical students and the clinical care team. The successful candidate will have a primary clinical appointment as a clinical psychologist at our comprehensive outpatient pain treatment facility, the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC)-Center for Pain Relief. Clinical duties will include outpatient assessment (e.g., spinal cord stimulator evaluations, bio-psycho-social intake evaluations) and psychotherapy as part of the UWMC-Center for Pain Relief. The successful candidate will be expected to assist in the development of comprehensive treatment plans and provide consultation with Center for Pain Relief pain physicians and advanced practice providers for patients with depression, anxiety disorder, and PTSD, with co-existing pain diagnoses. This position will be expected to engage in evidence-based psychotherapies, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness/meditation, motivational interviewing (MI), and hypnosis for chronic pain and other comorbid concerns is expected. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, scholarship and service. The initial appointment period will be three years with eligibility for renewal thereafter. Faculty on the clinical practice track hold multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank. The base salary range for this position will be $10,000 - $10,834 per month ($120,000 - $130,008 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a US Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through the UWP practice plan. Compensation provided by the UWP practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization. Qualifications Must have PhD degree (or foreign equivalent) in psychology and completion of internship in an APA-approved clinical psychology graduate school program. Must be eligible for psychology licensure in state of Washington. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-US) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the US Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
