Entangled Publishing is looking for a production coordinator who will work with the production team and liaise across departments to manage the process from start to finish of getting an author's manuscript ready for publication. The candidate will ensure the final book is completed in a timely manner, consistent in style, and contains all relevant data needed to successfully market the book by coordinating the completion of production editing tasks with authors, editors, designers, formatters, marketers, and publicists.
The production coordinator will be expected to perform the following tasks: Act as point person for authors, editors, formatters, copyeditors, proofreaders, and publicists throughout the book publication process. Schedule initial kick-off meetings with authors approximately 12 months before a book releases. Communicate and coordinate with the marketing and publicity team on the production process of books. Create publishing timelines for each book alongside the Associate Publisher. Input sprint deadlines into project management software, Airtable. Manage the end-to-end book publication process against pre-defined deadlines. Manage all metadata, including ISBNs, print specs, BISAC codes, and keywords, in the project management tracking tool, Airtable, and ensure that the data is always accurate and up to date. Create and complete book packaging documents. Work with Associate Publisher to help populate basic metadata such as ISBNs, specs, BISAC codes, and keywords in tip sheets and other internal documents as well as within Biblio. Candidate must have basic knowledge of SEO value and work with the marketing team and book editors to ensure the metadata correctly positions the book. Ensure the end-to-end publication process is being reviewed and approved by all authors and colleagues who need to approve. Report all changes to the project plan to all stakeholders. Pull and distribute weekly reports from the internal systems, such as inventory reports and print and bind reports. Monitor metadata feeds to confirm new data or data changes have been made on all retailer websites. Review galley files to ensure all final proofreading changes are applied, accurate, and complete. Assist with Print on Demand titles and setup. If proficient in In Design, work as a back-up to the full-time formatter as well as create marketing-specific documents for early reads Other project management functions as needed
This candidate must be a self-starter who is detail-oriented and demonstrates exceptional organizational skills. The Production Coordinator will work with the Senior Production Manager to cover up to 48 books a year, which are scheduled to release across 12 calendar months, or 3 publishing seasons. The candidate must be able to drive work forward for all books releasing in present as well as releasing at a future date. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), project management tracking software, Chicago Manual of Style, and strong proofreading skills. A copyediting background is not required but is a plus, as is proficiency in Adobe In Design, Photoshop, and Sigil.
