Pre Press Technician / E34C Printing Distribution, and Client Services FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt SUMMARY: Support the print plant prepress area by providing and offering assistance for the workflow of electronic media so that it is produced in a timely, accurate and efficient manner. The prepress technician provides the interface between the graphics designer and the production manager. Files generated by customers and those generated within the graphics department must be reviewed so that imposition can be accurately prepared in compliance with job specifications and company quality standards. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: REQUIRED: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: · Preflight and troubleshoot customer digital files, load fonts, inspect graphics and make color separations. SALARY/BENEFITS: $39,628.81- $44,673.13 commensurate with education or experience. · The state provides a benefit allowance to help you pay for insurance premiums which include health, dental, life and disability insurance. Total salary and benefits package valued at $53,328.13 - $58,752.13. MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY: None COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Requires ability to read and interpret documents such as salary rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively before groups of employees and ability to communicate ideas and concepts to other employees and customers. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Requires ability to apply moderately complex mathematical equations as applicable (for example proportions, percentages, fractions, and volume and applying concepts of basic algebra and geometry). REASONING SKILLS: Requires ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Requires ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructional and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. OTHER JOB-RELATED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Possess knowledge of multiple computer operating systems. Possess ability and willingness to learn multiple software applications and techniques with the ability to Convey information to peers. Possess adequate knowledge of traditional printing and bindery techniques and filing systems. Thorough knowledge of professional publishing on Macintosh or Windows systems including Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Adobe ln Design, Photoshop, Acrobat), Microsoft Word, Excel. Possess adequate knowledge of Macintosh and Windows platforms and operating systems. Possess adequate knowledge of imposition software and color management. Possess knowledge of printing terminology and practices. Possess knowledge of PDF and postscript files and PDF plug-ins. Possess general knowledge of utility programs such as file compression software, disk repair, print spoolers, Has ability to move freely throughout the building to gather information and receive authorizations. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to lift 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Position officed on-site at Career Tech in Stillwater, OK Fast-paced environment; subject to numerous schedule and priority changes. Frequently works near moving mechanical parts. Regularly exposed to ink and chemical fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals and vibrations. Sitting for prolonged periods of time up to 8 hours per day. Work area may have fluorescent lighting and air conditioning. Noise level is usually moderate 10 loud. Hiring contingent upon successful completion of background check.
