Lee Enterprises is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated finance professional to join our Treasury team. This role is primarily responsible for managing the end-to-end lifecycle of credit card and digital payment transactions, analyzing and optimizing credit card programs, ensuring compliance with regulations and improving credit card processing efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of payment card processing metrics, transactional data, card network and digital wallet operations, reconciliation practices, and merchant services. Other areas of responsibility include supporting cash flow operations, which may also include related cash journal entries for the Company's corporate processes. Knowledge of digital payment platforms and the card processing industry, as well as the ability to quickly learn and utilize multiple business software systems, is critical.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide analysis and strategic recommendations for optimizing payment method capture, retry strategies, authorization response handling, payment platforms, and timing to deliver optimal payment processing and cost efficiency while mitigating administrative tasks for both ongoing and new projects.
- Collaborate with credit card and digital payment processors, acquirers, and internal teams to drive improved payment acceptance and card tokenization strategies, and to enhance customer experience.
- Support Treasury initiatives with bank and processor relationships to improve service, including analyzing transaction dashboard activity for both B2B and B2C transaction payment trends.
- Ensure compliance with internal and external regulations related to credit card operations and card brand mandates, including identifying and mitigating potential risks, credit card fraud and loss.
- Support or make best practice recommendations related to payment processing.
- Establish and administer a variety of banking/financial applications related to card and digital payments.
- Assist in supporting external and internal audits of treasury and ensuring compliance with all Treasury related controls and policies.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CTP preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in treasury or finance operations, specific to card and digital payment processing.
- Proven track record building and deploying successful digital and credit card payment programs.
- Knowledge of digital payment processing environments (Stripe, Shopify, Pay Pal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, etc), regulations and structures.
- Familiarity with credit card networks (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, AmEx), merchant services, card brand regulations, mandates and reconciliation tools.
- Strong understanding of financial concepts, accounting principles, and treasury operations.
- Polished ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including colleagues, vendors, and auditors.
- Experience with ERP systems specific to payment gateways is a plus.
- An ownership mentality: willingness to roll up sleeves and do whatever is necessary.
- Superior Excel proficiency for data analysis, financial modeling and reporting.
- Ability to adapt to changing work environments, handling multiple projects simultaneously and prioritizing urgent requests.
