About the Opportunity
The Optimization Strategist for SEM and SEO is a digital marketing professional responsible for developing and executing strategies to manage paid search campaigns (SEM) and improve organic search rankings (SEO) across various search engines.
While both areas are important, SEM is the primary focus of this role.
The goal is to maximize website traffic and conversions by optimizing paid advertising efforts, content, and website structure around relevant keywords and user intent. Key focus areas include:
- Hands-on experience in managing and optimizing paid search campaigns, with a preferred focus on advertising for automotive dealers.
- Deep understand of automotive search behavior, local targeting, and inventory-driven strategies.
- Strong grasp of conversion tracking; including leads, calls, store visits, and form fills
This position requires direct hands-on management of SEM and SEO platforms, and close collaboration with Account Management and Sales teams on client strategies and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Position Requirements
- Collaborate with account management and sales teams to create content strategies that support client goals
- Analyze key website performance indicators
- Identify and target key demographics
- Manage day-to-day SEM and SEO campaign performance
- Monitor real-time search trends to inform adjustments
- Participate in discussions around client advertising performance
- Must be a team player with strong multitasking, organization, motivation, and critical thinking skills
- High attention to detail and strong knowledge of current search engine trends
- 1+ years of experience as an SEM strategist or similar role
- Strong understanding of SEO, search engine algorithms, and web traffic data
Position Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage campaign performance with a focus on continuous improvement
- Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues using best practices and creative solutions
- Develop marketing strategies aligned with client goals and digital performance metrics
- Work closely with Account Managers and Sales Representatives
- Adapt client strategies to incorporate new technologies and evolving processes
Key Skills
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of SEM and SEO best practices, search engine algorithms, PPC platforms, and analytics tools
- Data Analysis: Ability to interpret data and optimize campaigns accordingly; strong Excel skills required
- Communication: Capable of clearly explaining technical strategies to non-technical stakeholders
- Collaborate with developers to optimize websites for search engine visibility and user experience
- Stay current with trends and continuously identify new optimization opportunities
- Track and manage KPIs across individual clients and broader business goals

About You
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Advertising, or related field
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in digital advertising optimization
- 2+ years of experience using Google Analytics
- 2+ years of experience in digital marketing and performance reporting
- Google Analytics Certification required

The annualized base salary for this role will range between $55,000 and $60,000. Variable compensation is not reflected in these figures and based on the role, may be applicable. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, location, and union representation, if applicable.
