Position Description Updated June 26, 2025 Title: History Education Coordinator Division: Education & Engagement Reports to: Director of History Education Position Status: Full-time; Exempt Salary: $40,000/year Position summary: The Education Coordinator position serves as a member of the Education & Engagement division's Education Department and will provide vital teaching & administrative support for a team that impacts tens of thousands of students and adults annually through a combination of onsite tours, distance learning programs, and teacher programming. The History Education Coordinator will utilize their organizational & interpretive skills to schedule, staff, and lead onsite group tours and digital programs, while overseeing a team of part-time Museum Educators, and provide occasional administrative support for Virginia History Day and other museum programs. Duties & Responsibilities:
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Necessary:
Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills. Possess an understanding and working knowledge of basic computer technology (Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and Video Conferencing platforms)
Education & Experience Requirements:
Experience delivering interpretive programs to a general audience in a museum or public history setting preferred.
