Bankruptcy Paralegal, Hybrid - Wilmington DE
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and highly organized Bankruptcy Paralegal with experience handling various client representations. The ideal candidate will support attorneys with business Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 bankruptcy filings, client communication, and case management from intake through discharge. This role requires a thorough understanding of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code and Delaware local rules and procedures, excellent client service skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage bankruptcy cases from initial intake through case or matter resolution
- Conduct client interviews to gather financial documents and assess eligibility for filings
- Prepare and file petitions, schedules, statements, and other required bankruptcy documents using case preparation, software
- Prepare fee applications including review and preparation of invoices
- Draft, prepare, file and serve motions, objections, reaffirmation agreements, and other court pleadings
- Review creditor claims, income and expense disclosures, and repayment plans.
- Communicate with clients, creditors, counsel, court personnel, and trustees to coordinate filings, hearings and other matters as necessary
- Monitor case deadlines, court notices, and correspondence
- Maintain accurate and organized electronic case files
- Assist with post-filing activities, including plan modifications, discharge preparation, and case closure
Qualifications:
- Associate degree, paralegal certificate, or equivalent education/experience required
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working on debtor-side bankruptcy matters
- Proficiency with bankruptcy preparation software and PACER/ECF filing systems
- Strong knowledge of Federal District and Bankruptcy Court local and federal rules and
procedures
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with minimal supervision
- High level of professionalism and confidentiality
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with legal document management and billing software, (ie. iManage and Aderant)
- Familiarity with legal billing and time tracking
