FIRE CHIEF

The City of Grand Forks, ND is seeking an exceptional leader to serve as the next Fire Chief. This position also oversees the Public Safety Answering Point (Dispatch Center). The successful individual will be a visionary leader who exhibits relentless dedication to delivering extraordinary service customized to community needs. This professional will have a demonstrated history of advancing technology and contemporary strategies that will best serve the department and the community. The successful candidate will exemplify superior management, financial and leadership skills and abilities as well as possess extensive experience in problem solving, public presentations, and collaborative efforts.

Hiring Salary Range: $142,688 - $173,825

Depending on Qualifications.

Full Salary Range: $142,688 - $173,825 - $217,089

The Grand Forks Fire Department has 69 fire suppression staff and 9 administrative staff with an annual operating budget of over $12 million dollars. The PSAP Center has 18 full time dispatchers, 4 administrative personnel and part -time personnel.

This position assumes full responsibility for all Fire Department services and activities including fire prevention, community risk reduction, fire prevention, investigation, community outreach, training, special fire operation teams, and recommends and administers policies and procedures.

Minimum Requirements:

• Equivalent to a Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university.
• 8 Years of increasingly responsible fire department experience including four years of administrative and management responsibility.
• Ideal candidate will clearly possess and apply superior management, financial, and leadership knowledge as well as the skills, abilities, commitment, and energy need to achieve the Citys goals.
• This position requires an exceptional communicator with the ability to collaborate and build effective working relationships with the Mayor, Council, department heads, employees, partner agencies, and the community.
