Individuals would have to have a kennel facility that meets the New York State Ag and Market municipal kennel requirements.
Job Summary: The Dog Control Officer is responsible for enforcing local and state laws related to the control, care, and licensing of dogs within the town. The officer ensures public safety by managing stray, dangerous, or nuisance dogs, investigates complaints, and educates the community about responsible pet ownership.
Qualifications: * High school diploma or equivalent. * Valid driver's license. * Experience with animal care, public safety, or law enforcement preferred. * Ability to handle dogs safely and humanely, including aggressive animals. * Knowledge of local and state dog control laws (e.g., NYS Agriculture & Markets Law, if in New York). * Good written and verbal communication skills. * Ability to work independently and handle stressful situations calmly.
Working Conditions: * Exposure to animals, including aggressive or sick dogs. * Outdoor work in varying weather conditions. * Physical demands include lifting animals, walking long distances, and restraining animals.
