Overview

Horizon Farm Credit is actively seeking a Capital Markets Officer to join our Capital Markets team. Qualified candidate may work in any available Horizon Farm Credit branch. Our ideal candidate is a strategic, relationship-driven professional with deep experience in commercial or debt capital markets lending and a passion for delivering value to large-scale agricultural and agribusiness clients.

Posting Description: You'll lead the purchase and servicing of complex, multimillion-dollar loans, foster relationships with Farm Credit organizations and banking partners, and support the growth of our participation and syndication portfolios. You'll also serve as a mentor to less tenured staff, contribute to strategic initiatives, and ensure compliance with regulatory and credit quality standards. Areas of Responsibility:

Develop and execute a market development plan to drive quality portfolio growth, fee income, and net interest margin.

Spend at least 25% of your time traveling to build relationships with loan originators and referral sources, while executing an action-oriented Market Development Plan that includes proactive pipeline management and targeted sales activities.

Purchase and manage complex loans using sound credit principles and the 5 Cs of Credit. Ensure credit quality, maintain current loan servicing plans, and support collection efforts.

Build strong customer relationships by delivering tailored financial solutions and providing responsive, high-value service.

Support local service areas with large or complex lending needs.

Provide guidance and training to less experienced staff. Collaborate with branch lenders to jointly prospect, structure, and close deals.

Represent Horizon Farm Credit in industry teams and special projects. Act as a relationship manager for select corporate lending accounts.

Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Business Administration, Agriculture, Economics, Finance, or a related field.

Experience

Generally, five to eight years of related experience in sales, agriculture, or finance, including at least 3 years in commercial or capital markets lending.

Preferences

Strong interpersonal, sales, negotiation, and presentation skills.

Thorough knowledge of commercial lending and/or agricultural and agribusiness lending and related financial products and services and selling skills.

Ability to originate and structure large, complex loans and syndications.

Proficient in financial analysis and credit evaluation.

Willingness to travel within the U.S. to meet with clients and partners.

Ability to manage challenging account situations and make sound business decisions.

Demonstrate a willingness to be collaborative and the ability to develop and work well in a team atmosphere.

Ability to work independently with general supervision and proven self-starter.

Adaptable, collaborative, and committed to delivering exceptional service.

Adaptable and flexible to a changing work environment.

Salary range: $78,000 - $130,000, depending on experience. Opportunity to earn additional annual bonus incentive.
