Wor-Wic Community College is accepting applications for a human resources generalist. This position administers employment recruitment efforts, maintains position descriptions, collects and tracks data for numerous human resources processes, ensures proper maintenance and retention of human resources records and supports the senior director of human resources and the associate vice president for human resources with department initiatives.

Essential Duties
-

- Administers the employment recruitment life cycle by preparing fliers, advertisements, and electronic postings; obtaining approvals; conducting preliminary applicant reviews; determining interview time slots; setting the interview schedules; coordinating with search committees and leadership; communicating with applicants; moving applicants through the applicant tracking system; initiating and monitoring background checks; coordinating test and question packets; conducting reference and motor vehicle checks; and uploading documents and closing postings
- Coordinates activities related to the employee life cycle, including processing hew hires and separations through the system; scheduling new hire paperwork for temporary employees; scheduling exit interviews; preparing letters of good/not-in-good standing; preparing, editing and maintaining electronic and paper position description files; reviewing and maintaining personnel folders to ensure compliance; tracking and ordering name badges; and maintaining telework and alternate work schedule logs
- Coordinates annual retiree party, employee picnic and other personnel-related meetings/events; orders employee service and retirement awards, emeritus awards, and retiree gifts from the college; and prepares presentations and other materials needed for each
- Coordinates vetting procedures for Jordan Center employees, including paperwork for fingerprinted background checks and medical reports, and record management in the FBI database; coordinates paperwork and database applications process for public safety officers to secure Guard Card certifications
- Maintains critical tracking logs for recruitment, hiring, personnel documents/processes, benefits, and employee changes that are used for departmental reporting and planning; and creates and maintains desk procedures for assigned activities
- Provides excellent customer service and office support for the human resources department by serving as first contact for the department, handling incoming telephone calls and e-mail messages and referring them to the appropriate person, assisting walk-in visitors, filing correspondence, purging files, routing mail, completing purchase requisitions and other forms, and scheduling appointments; and monitors and orders office supplies/services, including print cartridges, membership dues, employee incentives, subscriptions, etc.
- Assists in the coordination of college-wide staff development/training efforts including scheduling, room reservations and catering orders; tracks employee training through the training database, and serves as backup as needed for new employee paperwork and ID cards

Minimum Requirements
-
- Associate degree in business or relevant field (two years of additional related work experience can be substituted for the associate degree)
- Three years of related work experience
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office and database programs
- Strong organizational and human relations skills
- Demonstrated ability to safeguard confidential information and data
- Excellent writing and proofreading skills
- Preference will be given to candidates with a bachelor's degree

This is a full-time standard support staff position with an excellent fringe benefits package including participation in the Maryland State Retirement and Pension system (7% contribution from the employee). Days and Hours of work are Mon. - Fri., 8 a.m. - 4: 30 p.m. (1 hour lunch). The starting hourly rate for this position will likely range from $28.00 to $34.33 per hour depending on qualifications and experience with extremely well qualified individuals toward the upper end of this range.
