Equipment Mechanic I - II

The Delaware Department of Transportation’s Maintenance & Operations, North District is seeking Equipment Mechanics at multiple levels, I-II.  These positions are for first level and intermediate level mechanics reporting to a technical supervisor.  Assignments require evaluation and analysis and are carried out in accordance with standard trade practices.  These positions diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, make determinations of problems and effectively repair a variety of vehicles and equipment, which may be unique to the agency, including: pick-up trucks with diesel engines; small tools, 2-stroke engines and equipment including chain saws, lawn mowers, weedeaters; as well as heavy duty diesel trucks and equipment with air brakes and hydraulic systems. As a condition of hire, the applicant must provide the basic required tools as specified by the agency upon employment.  Also, a CDL required within 90 days of hire.
