What to expect.
Under the direction of the Senior Director of Development and Planned Giving, The Director of Stewardship and Gift Management will oversee the planning, implementation, and monitoring of donor stewardship and gift management. This includes acknowledgment of gifts, donor recognition, the honoring of donor intent, and the effective and efficient use of funds to further the mission of the organization.
Specific responsibilities include:
Program Oversight & Operations
- Ensures the successful execution of all stewardship practices to enhance the donors connection and contribution through gift acknowledgement communications; narrative impact reports; financial reports for endowed funds; donor recognition; endowed lectureship material; and other donor-centric activities that arise.
- Manages information tracking processes ensure that all gifts requiring stewardship receive it in a timely manner.
- Records all gifts in Raisers Edge and thoughtfully stewarding each donor in alignment with their contribution.
- Oversees the development and maintenance of an effective workflow between Finance and Philanthropy to ensure proper allocation of funds.
- Oversees the master stewardship calendar and provides personalized and impactful donor updates.
- Oversees and manages Impact, the philanthropy magazine, from conception through production.
- Manages the development of gift proposals sent to donors and prospects considering supporting Sheppard Pratt.
Planning
- Develops, implements and monitors a recognition plan for all philanthropic gifts.
- Leads the planning and organizing for all cultivations and stewardship events.
Donor Recognition
- Creates thank you letters to acknowledge all gifts to Sheppard Pratt.
- Creates regular major donor updates regarding specific health system funding priorities.
- Create and implement stewardship plans for each major donor.
Customer Relations
- Holds a portfolio of approximately 125+ donors and prospects: solicits, cultivates and stewards portfolio and maintains relationships with long standing supporters of Sheppard Pratt.
- Participates in internal and external community events to support and promote Sheppard Pratt.
- Enhances Sheppard Pratts initiatives to meet the needs of patients, clients, individuals with chronic mental illness.
- Promotes and maintains positive relationships with donors, staff, clinicians, and patient families.
- Coordinates the approval and implementation of donor recognition.
Comprehensive Campaign
- Works on components of the comprehensive campaign as assigned, including but not limited to naming/recognition opportunities; developing and adhering to gift policies and procedures.
- Works closely with the CDO to develop campaign signage plans, recognize Foundation, corporate, and individual campaign supporters, and maintain and report campaign progress.

Pay for this position is determined on a number of factors, including but not limited to, years and level of related experience.
What we need from you.
- Bachelors degree in business, marketing or related field of study.
- A minimum of 5 years of stewardship development experience, or experience in a related field involving the management of long-term customer relationships and working with high-level institutional executives and volunteers.
- Experience developing complex gift proposals with multiple stakeholders is required.
- Work requires knowledge of fund-raising theories, principles, and concepts, program planning and evaluation.
