APPLICATIONS WANTED KIMBLE COUNTY ROAD AND BRIDGE SUPERVISOR Kimble County is now hiring a full-time Road and Bridge Supervisor. This is an exempt position. Assesses condition of, and plans maintenance and repair of county roads, ditches, and culverts in coordination and reporting to the Commissioners Court; manages and supervises, trains, assists as needed Road & Bridge Department including Road Hands’ and Equipment Operators’ work performance; manages all road & bridge equipment, the repair and replacement of same and has repairs performed as necessary. Serves as the initial intake for community members questions and issues related to their county roads and coordinates response as needed with Commissioners Court. Supervises all Road & Bridge Department including all Road Hands and Equipment Operators. This includes assigning and reviewing work, conducting performance reviews, and recommending personnel actions. Applies safety standards to prevent hazards; maintains good communication, works effectively and cooperatively with commissioners, co-workers and the general public. The position High School graduation or its equivalent, plus at least 3-5 years of progressive road and bridge operation supervision preferably and/or business management experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Computer literate including use of Microsoft business applications such as Excel, Word or the equivalent. The position requires knowledge of road maintenance and safe operation of the road equipment; provisions of the Texas Motor Vehicle Code relating to operation of such motorized equipment; and principles of supervisory management. Strong oral and written communication skills with people at all levels including department, commissioners court, vendors and community members. Organize and prioritize tasks to be assigned and completed; analyze and evaluate overall safety of equipment and personnel relating to road construction and maintenance; assess road conditions; operate equipment; service and make minor repairs on equipment; supervise work of others, recognizing problems and recommending solutions; estimate materials and labor costs for projects; assist others in properly operating equipment; tolerate outside working conditions, including exposure to adverse weather conditions. A Commercial Driver’s License and/or Texas driver’s license applicable to job responsibilities is required and the candidate must have a good driving record. The position has an annual salary of up to $75,000.00 based on experience. The position is eligible for Kimble County health insurance and retirement benefits.
