City of Brooklyn Employment Opening Notice Lateral Police Patrol Officer
The City of Brooklyn invites qualified applicants to apply for the position of Police Officer within the City Police Department. Interested applicants can obtain employment applications on the City of Brooklyn's website. A properly completed written application using the Employment Application Form must be submitted to the address below (in person, mail or email). It is highly encouraged to include a detailed resume. An application must be obtained from the City Website at the following link: www.brooklynohio.gov.
Applications submitted electronically through any publication will not be accepted according to City of Brooklyn Civil Service Rules. Applications will be accepted starting Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at 8am and must be received no later than Friday, May 30, 2025 at 4: 00pm.
Minimum Qualifications for Positions: Copy of high school diploma or GED, with evidence of any higher education degree or study, and a valid Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy certificate or an OPOTA-issued letter of training equivalency. Applicants must also, prior to appointment (but not prior to application):
1. Be a United States Citizen; 2. Have attained the age of 21; 3. Have a valid driver's license and be insurable under the City's vehicle insurance policy; 4. Demonstrate they have been employed with the past twelve months as a peace officer working a minimum of 32 hours per week in any police department established pursuant to Ohio law, and have successfully completed their probationary period with such jurisdiction; and 5. Be able to pass the Cuyahoga Community College police agility exam or an approved equivalent.
Salary will be determined based upon the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City and Ohio Patrolmen's Benevolent Association.
