Assistant Counselor- Part Time (Counseling Services) SUNY Broome Community College seeks a Part-Time Assistant Counselor for the Counseling Services Department to manage personal and mental health issues. This is an in-person, 12-month position, with a standard workweek of Monday through Friday. Some evenings and/or weekends may be required. Extensive knowledge and a strong skill set around crisis counseling/response and case-management required. Counselors also serve as a resource to support faculty and staff in matters related to students. Responsibilities include: counseling students in the areas of mental health and psychosocial matters, short-term therapy, risk assessment, crisis counseling/response, small and group counseling. As part of retention efforts, this position will have a heavy focus on supporting our more vulnerable students and be responsible for providing case-management services. Requirements: A minimum of a Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related area as a Qualified Health Professional and two years of experience in an educational institution, public agency or industry in the area of counseling is required; three years of comparable experience is preferred. The candidate must hold a professional license in a related mental health field and be eligible to work in the State of New York. The ideal candidate will possess case management experience, strong crisis response skills and experience providing counseling to under-represented and multi-cultural populations, to support SUNY Broome's goals of cultivating a supportive, diverse, and inclusive community. Additional Information: The hourly rate for this position is $41.79. Offers of employment will be conditional based upon the results of a satisfactory, required pre-employment Standard Background Check.
