Event Operations Financial Specialist

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Event Operations Finance Specialist to join our Events business at USA TODAY Network. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting and bookkeeping, with a keen attention to detail. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth financial operations of our events, including processing invoices, managing payments to vendors, and ensuring accurate reporting on all outbound payments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and cost analysis for the Events business, ensuring financial efficiency and profitability.
• Partner with Finance on reporting and forecasting processes, providing strategic insights to optimize revenue and expense management.
• Act as primary resource for Event Ops team for all needs and questions around financial reporting, plan revisions, accruals, P&Ls, flash, etc.
• Ensure Event Ops team is meeting standard accounting practices/policies for all event series.
• Provide timely and accurate financial insights & recommendations to support business decisions.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in leading financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Proficiency in financial software and tools.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in financial industry.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Experience within the events, media, or entertainment industries, with a strong understanding of revenue streams, pricing models, and cost controls.
• Knowledge of financial regulations and standards.

The annualized base salary for this role will range between $45,000 and $92,000. Base compensation is reflective of many factors, including, but not limited to, the market in which one lives/works, individual education level, skills, certifications and experience. Note: variable compensation is not reflected in these figures and based on the role, may be applicable.
