A School Social Worker is a trained mental health professional who helps students achieve academic success by acting as a link between home, school, and community, providing individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and advocacy for students' social, emotional, and behavioral needs.

Assessment and Intervention:

Conduct assessments to identify students' social, emotional, and behavioral needs.

Develop and implement individualized intervention strategies to address these needs.

Provide individual and group counseling to students.

Offer crisis intervention and prevention services.

Collaboration and Advocacy:

Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and other professionals to create a supportive learning environment.

Advocate for students' rights and needs within the school system and beyond.

Facilitate communication and partnerships between school, home, and community resources.

Consult with teachers, administrators, and parents on student behavior and learning issues.

Specific Services:

Assist students in developing social skills, conflict resolution strategies, and anger management skills.

Help students cope with stress and develop decision-making skills.

Support students with special needs and IEPs, ensuring accommodations and modifications are implemented.

Provide family support and resources to address issues impacting student learning and well-being.
