Psychiatrist - Uptown Psych, Chicago

Uptown Psych, part of the Optum family of businesses, is seeking a Psychiatrist to join our team in Chicago, IL. Our leading team of licensed psychiatrists and psychologists represent extensive and diverse expertise to facilitate superior and highly personalized treatment plans for a full scope of mental health issues for children, adolescents, and adults including attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, addiction, and all anxiety spectrum disorders.

This is a 1.0 FTE position (28 billable / 40 total hours per week) that offers the ability to flex your schedule to meet your needs and the needs of the client. The position is based on-site at 4753 N. Broadway St. in Chicago, IL. Candidates must reside within commuting distance of Chicago, IL. Opportunities to occasionally work from home doing telehealth sessions may be considered.

Primary Responsibilities:

Perform acute and long-term psychiatric care, including:

• Assessments, diagnoses, treatment, and management of mental health conditions
• Communicating condition information
• Preventative care
• Understanding patient medical history, current mental health status, serious mental illness symptoms, behavioral disorders, chronic disease, substance abuse, and other factors impacting mental health
• Creating and updating treatment plans
• Clinical documentation
• Medication management
• Medication administration
• Patient monitoring
• Psychotherapy
• Crisis intervention
• Promoting mental health awareness
• Educating patient and families
• Collaborating with healthcare professionals
• Ordering and interpreting lab tests and diagnostic testing
• Making referrals
• Supervision

Required Qualifications:

• M.D. (Doctor of Medicine) or D.O. (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine)
• Active, unrestricted Psychiatrist license in the state of Illinois
• Active Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license for prescribing controlled substances
• Board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) or ability to obtain within 90 days
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Eligible to enroll as a Medicare provider or able to terminate opt-out (if applicable)
• Reside within commuting distance of Chicago, IL
• Willing and able to work on-site at 4753 N. Broadway St. in Chicago, IL

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)
• Knowledge of Spravato
