Environmental, Operations and Construction (EOC) operates within HDR's Federal Business Group, capable of delivering services across all HDR business groups at any location. Our work is performed by our professional staff, scientists and engineers at remote sites, embedded in client office space or our own facilities. EOC delivers quality engineering, environmental, and construction management services at competitive prices. This position will provide onsite support to our client at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma City, OK.
In the role of Electrical Designer, we'll count on you to:
- Provide electrical technical and engineering support in the design of the building systems (Power, Lighting, Grounding, Lightning protection)
- Provide support in engineering evaluations and recommendations for improvements
- Provide in-depth assessments and cost estimates for electrical projects
- Design electrical systems based on the DOD/Tinker AFB specifications
- Provide technical reviews of Submittals, Requests for Information and internal design drawings
- Participate in final on-site inspections
- Support the other disciplines as needed
- Provide support to the DAT program
- Be willing to submit to a background check
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
- A minimum 5 years of experience in general civil engineering and electrical design of buildings
- Knowledge of design for Department of Defense facilities
- Knowledge of the Internal Building Code, NFPA Life Safety Code, ASCE 7, ACI Standards, AISC Standards, and Unified Facilities Criteria
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Strong knowledge of codes and good planning skills
- Desire to pursue growth opportunities and obtain registration
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
- Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm
- Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired but not required
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or closely related field
- Knowledge of MS Office, Primavera, Scheduling Software, spreadsheets and databases
- Interest and/or experience in the construction field
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
