Job Description

The world of finance moves fast. At FIS, we're faster. Our teams are empowered to learn, grow, and make an impact-in their careers and communities. We deliver innovation that advances the way the world pays, banks and invests. If you want to grow personally and professionally, we'd like to know: Are you FIS?

NOTE: This position will be hybrid (3 days onsite) for candidates who are located within commutable distance from our FIS Office locations throughout the US.

About the role:

As a Digital Solutions Architect - Mobile/Web, you will be responsible for defining, designing, and enabling the architecture that powers our next-generation mobile and web applications.

You won't just be making technical decisions-you'll be shaping the strategic direction of our digital platform, ensuring that front-end experiences are scalable, reusable, and optimized for performance. You'll work across mobile and web platforms, championing modular architectures and cross-platform development best practices.

Beyond technical leadership, you'll be the guiding force for platform teams, ensuring they adopt the right modern front-end frameworks, component-based architectures, and scalable UI strategies. You will play a key role in influencing stakeholders across the organization, ensuring alignment on technical direction and best practices while driving long-term success.

This is a role for strategic thinkers, hands-on leaders, and problem solvers who can bridge engineering, product, and design to create best-in-class digital experiences.

About the Team:

Digital banking has been slow to evolve, but at FIS, we're changing that. We're building a smarter, faster, and more connected financial ecosystem. Our API-first, cloud-native platform is driving innovation and transforming how customers interact with financial technology.

Our Digital Technology teams are focused on moving beyond legacy, monolithic architectures and embracing modern, scalable, and decoupled solutions that drive faster innovation, enhanced security, and frictionless customer experiences.

This isn't just about keeping up-it's about leading the transformation of financial technology. And we need top-tier architects to help drive it.

What you will be doing:

This isn't just another architecture role-it's an opportunity to redefine how mobile and web applications power the future of financial technology. You'll be:

  • Shaping an API-first, cross-platform digital future for banking and payments.

  • Architecting scalable, high-performance front-end platforms that power seamless customer experiences.

  • Guiding platform teams on how to build modern front-end solutions and frameworks that enable long-term scalability and innovation.

  • Delivering real business impact-not just designing systems, but ensuring they're built, adopted, and delivering value.

  • Architect the Future of Mobile & Web Banking - Define and lead the mobile/web architecture strategy, ensuring modular, scalable, and maintainable front-end solutions.

  • Champion API-First & Cloud-Native Principles - Ensure all mobile and web solutions align with cloud-native patterns, security best practices, and API-driven ecosystems.

  • Guide Platform Teams on Modern Front-End Best Practices - Drive the adoption of modern UI frameworks, reusable component libraries, and front-end performance optimization techniques.

  • Lead the Evolution from Legacy to Modern - Drive modernization efforts, transitioning legacy applications into scalable, decoupled architectures built for speed and adaptability.

  • Standardize & Scale Front-End Development - Establish best practices, reusable frameworks, and architectural patterns to support cross-platform consistency.

  • Drive Developer-First Enablement - Work with platform engineering teams to build reusable UI components, front-end libraries, and mobile infrastructure that streamline development.

  • Ensure Performance, Security, & Observability - Define and enforce performance optimizations, accessibility standards, and front-end security best practices, including real user monitoring (RUM) and observability capabilities.

  • Collaborate Across Disciplines - Work closely with product managers, UX/UI teams, and engineering leads to ensure solutions meet user experience and business objectives.

  • Mentor & Influence - Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams, advocating for architectural best practices and ensuring alignment with the company's digital strategy.

What you will need:

  • 8+ years of experience in solution architecture, front-end engineering, or mobile/web application development.

  • Deep expertise in modern front-end architectures, including modular, decoupled, and componentized micro frontends.

  • Strong background in cross-platform development, with deep expertise in React and React Native, including experience in architecting and optimizing large-scale applications leveraging component-based design, state management (Redux, Context API), and performance tuning for web and mobile applications.

  • Proven ability to lead and influence platform teams, ensuring alignment on front-end frameworks, UI best practices, and component reuse strategies.

  • Experience with API-driven development, ensuring seamless integration with serverless backends, event-driven architectures, and cloud-native services (AWS, Azure).

  • Knowledge of mobile/web performance optimization, accessibility standards, and front-end security best practices.

  • Experience leading modernization efforts, transitioning from monolithic web/mobile applications to scalable, cloud-based solutions.

  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code (Terraform), CI/CD pipelines, and automated front-end testing strategies.

  • Ability to influence, guide, and mentor engineering teams, driving adoption of best practices and modern development standards.

  • Proven success in delivering customer-facing digital solutions, particularly in fintech, SaaS, or large-scale consumer applications.

Added bonus if you have:

  • Knowledge of Fintech or finance industry.

  • Knowledge if FIS products and services.
