Ameresco seeks a Director of Construction - Federal and Utility Solutions to join our team in Phoenix, AZ.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Federal and Utility Solutions team and management to support development of Federal projects that include utilities, renewable energy generation, energy storage and microgrid projects.

  • Provide hands-on leadership, planning, pricing strategies, and management of procurement, contract administration, construction, and commissioning resources to assure total quality and project delivery on time and within budget while meeting or exceeding owner expectations.

  • Understand key strategic partnerships

  • Plan, budget, track, and effectively manage organizational and team resources to achieve business objectives.

  • Grow opportunities for return on investment and winning proposals

  • Recruit, hire, develop, train, and evaluate team in accordance with approved business plan to support construction of projects

  • Establish and monitor progress of individual and team goals

  • Budget, track, and manage project expenses.

  • Understand critical milestones for projects

  • Coordinate the construction interface with engineering and senior management teams

  • Evaluate technologies and equipment to recommend most suitable construction methods for each application

  • Perform critical review of critical submittals for quality assurance, technical accuracy, and customer-oriented solutions

  • Provide ongoing project construction and implementation status updates with internal management and external parties as required

  • Manage, review, and approve project construction cost and budget activity and provide monthly forecasts to EVP and VP of Construction

  • Prepare accurate, timely, and detailed monthly project status reports and schedules

  • Provide updated project schedules, report documentation, tracking, technical assistance, and internal collaboration

  • Evaluate and provide workable solutions as challenges are presented during development and construction related to budget and schedule.

  • Manage project construction processes to ensure successful completion of projects on schedule, at or under budget, and

  • Ensure compliance with company, industry, trade, and jurisdictional safety standards, practices, codes.

  • Cultivate positive and effective business relationships

  • Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Construction Management or Equivalent years of relevant technical experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of electrical, mechanical, engineering, or industrial power construction project management work experience focusing on complex utilities, renewable energy, commercial and Federal projects.

  • Ability to review confidential US security information.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience managing and developing careers of direct reports with varying levels of experience.

  • Experience managing multiple subcontractors and consultants on complex, multiphase projects.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and foster positive business relationships.

  • Strong verbal, written, computer, technical communication, and presentation skills.

  • Proficient computer skills including MS Word, Excel, MS Project, and cloud-based construction management software such as Procore or equivalent.

  • Valid Drivers' License in good standing, issued by the resident state.

  • Travel required.
