Electronics Engineer I

KARL STORZ is actively recruiting for an Electronics Engineer who will support the design and engineering of electronic circuits, simulate their performance, and develop technical documentation for product development teams. They will also design test fixtures, procedures, and provide manufacturing support to ensure the consistent production of high-quality camera systems.

Essential Functions:

Analysis & Modeling:

  • Model camera system components, including imagers, amplifiers, CDS sampling, cables, timing generation, and A/D converters.
  • Analyze and simulate performance under worst-case tolerances to ensure reliability and performance.
  • Communicate analytical results to the engineering team and validate models with empirical methods as needed.
  • Document findings in technical reports and design reviews.

Project Development Teams:

  • Contribute design ideas and identify potential concerns to project managers.
  • Support the design and analysis of new circuits to meet component and system specifications.
  • Work with PWB designers for optimal circuit layout, ensuring performance and signal integrity.
  • Collaborate with Mechanical and Thermal Engineers to optimize packaging and manufacturability.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards (FDA/GMP, ISO13485, UL, CSA, MDD).
  • Participate in prototype development and testing.
  • Assist in completing product documentation and production release.

Sustaining Support:

  • Provide support for existing products, including resolving field and manufacturing issues.
  • Define test requirements to diagnose and correct sustaining problems.
  • Design and validate new test methods.

General Engineering:

  • Assist with Design Assurance Checks and provide technical direction.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and services.
  • Ensure regular attendance for job performance.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Maintain high quality, durability, and efficacy standards, especially for medical devices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in schematic software (e.g., Altium) and simulation tools (e.g., Spice, HyperLynx).
  • Knowledge of NTSC/PAL video systems, CCD/CMOS imager technology, and analog circuit design.
  • Familiarity with medical device quality system regulations (FDA, ISO13485, ISO9001).
  • Experience with low noise sensor interfaces, high-speed circuits, and CCD/FPGA design is a plus.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • 0-2 years of experience in electronic design or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of circuit modeling, testing equipment, and related software tools.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
