About Us
St. Teresa of Avila Child Development Center is a non-profit, faith-based school serving northern Nevada families since 2009. With an an excellent reputation in Carson City for early childhood education, we provide a nurturing environment for children ages 3-5. Our mission is to foster spiritual, social/emotional, academic, and physical child development for our students. We have designed a curriculum and daily schedule which will have reachable goals for each child admitted into our program. We are affiliated with St. Teresa of Avila Catholic School and are located on the same campus. We serve children aged 3-5 in a safe, faith-filled environment.
Position Details
- Salary: $50,000 – $65,000
- Job Type: Full-Time
- Work Location: Carson City
- Schedule: Monday through Friday
Qualifications:
Candidates must meet Nevada Childcare Licensing requirements with one of the following combinations of education and experience:
- BA + 15 credits in social science + 2 years in administrative or supervisory position,
- BA/AA in ECE + 6 months administrative experience or course
- BA/AA related field + 15 semester hours of ECE + 12 months in ECE + 6 months administrative experience or course
- CDA + 2 years in ECE + 6 months administrative experience or course
- Approved combination of education and experience
- Diploma/GED with 15 semester hours in ECE related + 2 years in ECE + 6 months administrative or supervisory position.
Preferred qualifications:
- 1 + years of experience as early childhood director experience.

Key Responsibilities
Program Development
- Maintain and enhance curriculum to align with Nevada standards and meet the needs of enrolled children.
- Define and enforce policies related to admission, attendance, tuition and educational goals.
Staff Supervision/Employee Relations
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise staff members
- Oversee planning and evaluation of developmentally appropriate activities and lesson plans.
- Conduct staff performance evaluations, hold regular meetings, and mediate conflicts.
- Organize professional development opportunities and ensure compliance with licensing requirements.
- Regularly monitor staff performance and provide coaching or mentoring for performance improvement and development.
- Arrange for substitute staff when needed and act as a substitute teacher when needed.
- Coordinate recruitment and hiring to fill preschool staff vacancies and make hiring recommendation to school administration.
Administration
- Manage day-to-day operations, including schedules, staff assignments, and utilization of office/classroom space and resources.
- Ensure compliance with State of Nevada childcare licensing regulations, including maintaining appropriate staff-to-child ratios.
- Serve as the primary point of contact with regulatory bodies.
- Implement health and safety programs, including universal health precautions, emergency procedures, and facility and equipment safety protocols
- Oversee student admissions and enrollment process.
Fiscal Responsibilities
- Collaborate with leadership to prepare and manage the annual budget.
- Oversee operational expenditures, including purchasing supplies and equipment.
