Description

As an Ink Technician with Liberty Packaging, you will contribute to the growth of our business by beinga key player in safely producing quality corrugated products for our customers. In this role, you will work independently and with others. You will support machine operators in maximizing machine efficiency by preparing and mixing accurate ink formulations to produce high-quality printed packaging materials. This position plays a critical role in ensuring precise color matching, quality, and consistency throughout the production process.

This full-time position reports directly to a Production Supervisor and is located at our Poway, California, manufacturing facility.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adhere to all company safety procedures, quality standards, and environmental compliance in handling of inks and chemicals.
  • Mix inks to match color specifications and stage at the machines.
  • Adjust formulations to achieve consistent color quality and meet production standards and schedule.
  • Conduct quality checks on ink batches to ensure adherence to color and performance standards. Color-match at press side as needed.
  • Record and maintain detailed documentation of ink formulations and adjustments.
  • Use of ink rollers and spectrophotometer.
  • Place orders for the various ink bases; manage and maintain ink room inventory; and forecast ink demand.
  • Make recommendations to maximize cost savings, quality, and service goals. Report any unusual scheduling issues to Supervisor.
  • Request new color swatches from ink vendor.
  • Keep ink room clean, and maintain ink pumps, mixers, and other equipment to ensure efficiency.
  • Other duties, as assigned

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • High School diploma orGEDequivalentfrom an accredited institutionor 1+ years of manufacturingor comparableexperience inplaceof education.
  • Strong attention to detail, especially with color matching and quality control.
  • Mechanical aptitude for working with ink-related equipment
  • Previous experienceapplyingbasic mathskills(such asaddition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) to calculate ink formulas and measurements.
  • Previous experience reading,following,and/orcompleting detailed work instructions.
  • Proficient in communication skills and computer skills.
  • Must be available to work overtime, weekends, and holidaysas required.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Experience in an ink room or printing environment is preferred.
  • Experience within the corrugated industry.
  • Experience withoperational excellence orcontinuous improvement programs - Lean 6 Sigma, Kaizen Events.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The starting pay rate for this position is $18.50 per hour. The compensation posted is the anticipated pay for the position at the time of the posting. We may pay above or below posted amount based on several factors, including, but not limited to education and/or certifications, skills, experience, or work location. Some positions may qualify for additional compensation in the form of bonuses.
