Under direct supervision of the Maintenance Manager, the Lead Mechanic ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by conducting and administering planned preventive maintenance, manage, prioritize and expedite repairs on production equipment, troubleshooting malfunctions, conveyors, pumps, motors and pneumatic systems; Organize, consult and improve blueprints, diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications. This position is categorized as compliance critical and, as such, requires and is assigned specific responsibility for ensuring continual and proper compliance with all division, corporate and regulatory requirements. It is the associate's responsibility to observe all safety rules. Any condition thought to be hazardous or unsafe should be reported to your supervisor immediately.
- Provides conceptual ability for documented training to maintenance personal and packaging technicians.
- Facilitate and generate change controls to maintain organization and compliance requirements
- Critiques operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance, adjustments on production equipment, troubleshooting malfunctions on electro/mechanical, conveyors, pumps, motors and pneumatic systems; ability to manage organize and compile blueprints, diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications.
- Demonstrated customer oriented problem solving ability to troubleshoot and multi task electrical and mechanical aspects of thermormers, coldformers, cartoners, printers, serialization equipment, check weighs, vision systems, labelers, and other packaging equipment.
- Methodical analytical skills to acquire and utilize data, organize, analyze, and reach accurate solutions.
- Experienced with high speed continuous and intermittent motion packaging equipment.
- Strong ethical, disciplined practical knowledge of cGMP, FDA requirements, Safety practices and procedures, and State Regulations as they apply to maintenance pharmaceutical operations.
- Balance, update, negotiate, document, equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; analyze needed equipment, parts, and supplies for repairs and projects.
- Self-accountable for being an active participant in continuous improvement activities to promote improved efficiency and effectiveness of the production line. Takes initiative in proposing and driving continuous improvement activities in the production area.
- Works cross-functionally with other members of the AHP operations team to meet and/or exceed quality and production goals.
- Maintains continuity effectively both orally and in writing to formulate and adhere to schedules
- Provide accurate detailed turnovers to oncoming shifts
- Observe established proper Lockout/Tagout safety procedures
- Adheres to and operates under 5S principles/guidelines for the promotion of efficient and effective operations.
- Adaptable and willing to work overtime when necessary to meet business needs.
- Available for emergency calls after hours and weekends
- Conduct BMS monitoring
- Oversee and generate daily work requests and provide detailed follow up
- Coordinate maintenance shop housekeeping assignments
- Lead and perform related duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires Associates degree, completion of vocational program or certification in maintenance/technical discipline or equivalent.
- Requires completion of a high school diploma, general education degree (GED) or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Minimum 5-10 years of manufacturing maintenance experience required. Preferred experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing or other regulated industry.
- Must have strong electrical and mechanical background with knowledge of generators, chillers, plc, air handling units, roof top air conditioning, pneumatics, clean room environment.
MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to read and understand the English language for the purpose of reading documents, product labels and instructions.
- Previous Blister Machine maintenance experience is preferred.
- Must possess basic mathematical skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.
- Strong organizational skills; detail oriented.
- Ability to use good judgment in order to carry out detailed instructions.
- Complete technical and operational knowledge of industrial mechanical components and systems. (Bearings, Pumps, Piping, pneumatics, facility integrity...etc)
- Complete technical and operational knowledge of industrial electrical and electronic equipment and systems. (single phase motors, 3-ph motors, AC Control equipment, DC control equipment, batteries and DC circuits, NFPA 70e, electrical measuring equipment, power supplies, etc.)
- Complete understanding to troubleshoot complex automated systems controlled by computers, programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and microprocessors in a high-volume work environment.
- Safe operating practice training for power tools and powered equipment
- Complete Metal work capabilities. (measuring, cutting, arc / Mig welding.
- Ability to read, interpret, and create CAD layouts, illustrated parts breakdown (IPB) diagrams, and electrical circuitry diagrams and drawings.
- Strong organizational skills; attention to detail
- Strong prioritization and scheduling abilities
- Strong aptitude for repair and maintenance activities
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to maintain cooperative working environment

- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and knowledge of CAD preferred.
- Excellent problem solving skills; ability to resolve issues effectively and efficiently
- Knowledge of building automation systems such as Backtalk

- Ability to coach and train Maintenance Associates in all aspects of work scope
