Job Description:

Veit is seeking an experienced and safety-oriented Lowboy Driver to join our team in New Berlin, WI. This role will be responsible for transporting equipment and materials to and from jobsites throughout the Midwest.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Hauls construction equipment and other heavy materials.

  • Secures loads prior to hauling.

  • Follows daily procedures and protocols as set forth in job orientations and training.

  • Performs routine inspection and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to Senior Logistics Manager.

  • Properly follows company and OSHA safety procedures. Bring problems to the attention of Senior Logistics Manager.

  • Keep Supervisor advised of known actions, written or verbal, which may affect the ability to successfully perform tasks at construction project sites or adversely affect Company operations.

  • Other projects or duties as assigned by management.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • 2+ years of hauling experience.

  • Current medical card.

  • Must have Hazmat Endorsements or ability to obtain.

  • Ability to use Electronic Logging Device (ELD).

  • Ability to read maps, follow directions, and navigate with GPS.

  • Ability to operate and load equipment including dozers, excavators, compactors, drill rigs, etc.

  • Good communication skills both oral and written when working with all levels of management and employees, external vendors, and other business associates. Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.

  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency as required by management and/or project requirements.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Flatbed and step deck experience helpful but not required.

Other:

  • Member of Local 139, or ability to join.

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.

  • Must be able to work 8 to 12-hour workdays, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends.

  • Must be available and willing to travel overnight.

  • Must be able to work an early-morning shift. Must be flexible regarding work hours including evenings and weekends.

  • Must maintain satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.

Employee is exposed to environmental conditions, workingnear machines and loud noises associated with construction sites. Exposed tovariable weather conditions including rain, snow, wind, cold and heat. Also exposed to variable terrain.
