Senior Construction Materials Engineer-Project Manager

S&ME is seeking individual(s) to join our Service Line team in Atlanta, Georgia as a Senior Project Manager and help us provide engineering solutions to our clients.

What You Will Do:

As a Senior Project Manager, you will have a strong background in construction materials testing. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience testing soil, concrete, asphalt, and aggregate and has progressed into project management and field staff supervision. This role is crucial in ensuring top-quality results and adherence to industry standards. With our technician team doubling in size over the past year, we are growing rapidly and need a leader who can drive complex projects to completion with excellence.




  • Project Management: Oversee and drive diverse Construction Materials Testing and Special Inspections projects, applying technical expertise while managing all aspects, including budgeting, scheduling, and ensuring timely completion.
  • Client Collaboration: Work closely with clients to understand their specific project requirements, delivering exceptional service and exceeding expectations.
  • Business Growth and Networking: Build and strengthen relationships within the local market, expanding your professional connections to fuel revenue growth and support our strategic financial objectives.
  • Strategic Development: Lead local and regional business development initiatives, enhancing our market presence through targeted outreach and promotional strategies.
  • Proposals and Documentation: Prepare, review, and refine project proposals and reports, ensuring they align with industry standards, client needs, and project specifications.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and support a team of professionals, project managers, and field staff, fostering skill development and career advancement.



Who You Are:



  • You have a Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Management or closely related field
  • You have 10+ years of combination of performing testing and/or managing Construction Materials Testing and Special Inspections projects
  • You have 8+ years of experience in a project manager role
  • You have a strong working knowledge of applicable ASTM, AASHTO, and DOT standards and procedures, IBC Special Inspections, and geotechnical recommendations



Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as:



  • Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions
  • Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing for potentially up to 12 hours a day
  • Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
  • Maneuvering field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground around active construction sites
