JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Public Health Sciences, in Hershey, PA, is seeking a part time Data Scientist. We are a dynamic research team focused on advancing maternal health outcomes through data-driven insights. Our work involves leveraging machine learning, artificial intelligence (AI), and statistical modeling to analyze complex maternal health data. We are looking for a skilled and motivated Data Scientist to join our team part-time and contribute to cutting-edge research that informs policy and practice. The Part-time Data Scientist will apply data science techniques, machine learning, and AI to analyze maternal health data. This role involves exploratory data analysis, predictive modeling, and interpretation of findings to support maternal health research initiatives. The ideal candidate has experience working with large healthcare datasets.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement machine learning and AI models to analyze maternal health data.

Conduct exploratory data analysis to enhance predictive modeling.

Apply statistical techniques to assess trends, disparities, and risk factors in maternal health.

Qualifications:

Master's or PhD in Data Science, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or a related field.

Experience with machine learning, AI, and statistical modeling techniques.

Familiarity with maternal and infant health research.

Proficiency in Python or R, with experience using libraries such as PyTorch or similar.

Experience working with large healthcare datasets, including Medicaid claims, electronic health records, or population health data.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research environment.

Excellent communication skills to present findings to diverse audiences.
