POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

Alutiiq Commercial Enterprises has an exciting opportunity supporting the U.S. Airforce at Joint Base Langley - Eustis (JBLE) located in the Hampton/Newport News, VA area.

The HVAC I - Preventive Maintenance Technician shall provide preventive maintenance and inspection services for all HVACequipment located on Joint Base Langley Eustis.



  • Provide skilled labor to perform and or assist in preventative maintenance programs on all HVAC related equipment, to include:

    • Chillers
    • Boilers
    • Air handlers
    • Both package and split system air conditioning units


  • Greasing and oiling of pumps and motors
  • Inspecting and cleaning of HVAC units and coils
  • Inspect and change as needed drive belts
  • Transfer, change, and dispose of various types of filter media throughout the base
  • Inspect HVAC machinery in operation to ensure proper functioning
  • Perform or assist in small minor repairs
  • Assist in performing seasonal changeover of all HVAC related equipment, to include cleaning both boiler and chiller tubes, cleaning, and winterizing cooling towers
  • Assist in the procurement of parts and materials for job completion
  • Other tasks as assigned


Payrate:$28.76 Hourly

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
  • Must have basic knowledge of principles and practices of maintenance, repair, and replacement of HVAC equipment.
  • Must be fluent in English

    • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
    • Ability to write simple correspondence
    • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.


  • Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Must have the ability to deal with problems involving several variables in adverse situations
  • Ability to safely utilize, operate, and maintain hand and power tools common to the electrical and HVAC trade
  • Ability to interpret and apply NEC, local codes, blueprints, wiring diagrams and engineering drawings
  • Knowledge of operation and installation of a variety of complete electrical systems equipment


Clearances, Certifications, Training, etc.



  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record
  • Must have three years HVAC experience and one year training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
