Responsibilities

As a Traveling Fiber Optic Installation Supervisor, you will oversee our fiber optic installation projects and provide support to both the Traveling Underground Fiber Optic Placing Foreman and Fiber Optic Placing Laborers. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, technical knowledge in fiber optic installation, and experience in managing teams in a dynamic field environment. This position demands a commitment to quality, safety, and collaboration among all team members.

In addition, you will:

  • Assist in overseeing the daily operations of fiber optic installation projects to ensure adherence to quality standards and project timelines.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Traveling Underground Fiber Optic Placing Foreman and Fiber Optic Placing Laborers, promoting a positive and productive team environment.
  • Facilitate communication between the foreman, laborers, and management to ensure project goals are met and any issues or concerns are addressed promptly.
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures on-site, conducting regular safety meetings to ensure all team members maintain awareness of best practices and hazards.
  • Assist in training new team members on fiber optic installation techniques, equipment operation, and safety protocols.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to assess the quality of installations, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications and industry standards.
  • Manage the allocation of materials and equipment necessary for fiber optic installations, coordinating with suppliers and logistics to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain accurate records of project progress, including daily logs, equipment usage, and material inventory, reporting any discrepancies to management.
  • Identify potential challenges in the installation process, working proactively with the team to develop and implement effective solutions.
  • Develop your team's skill set and knowledge of telecom construction
    • Aerial and underground
  • Lead by example and support the company-wide safety culture

  • Provide a high level of customer service when interfacing with customers

Qualifications

  • You know the telecom construction industry.
  • Coax Splicing, Fiber Splicing, Directional Drilling, map reading, etc.
  • You enjoy problem-solving and like to troubleshoot problems as they arise in the field
  • You embrace the challenge of coaching and mentoring your team
  • You have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn custom software
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or relevant certifications preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in fiber optic installation or related fields, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of fiber optic installation processes, including experience with Condux Gulfstream 400 and various underground digging machinery.
  • Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, able to collaborate with team members and clients effectively.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively.
  • OSHA 30 certification is preferred.
  • Knowledge of railroad rules and regulations are a plus.
