Job Description:

Location: We support US flexible working arrangements in the contiguous 48 states, however for this role we prefer candidates who can commute to either Wellesley Hills, MA or Kansas City, MO two to three days per week.

The opportunity:

We are seeking a Financial Analyst to join the Health & Risk Solutions Expense Management team. This position will support the reporting and analysis of critical expense data, while working with various departments within Sun Life to strengthen internal processes within the business unit and ensuring accurate efficient expense operations.

How you will contribute:

  • Perform transaction-based analysis and month-end close activities

  • Support business unit expense reporting for various audiences

  • Support business unit planning activities (business plan, strategic plan, and forecast)

  • Coordinate and support accounts payable and procurement processes as needed

Provides expense management reporting and analysis:

  • Perform routine analysis on monthly expenses to proactively identify potential risk

  • Maintain reporting structures to ensure efficient and accurate deliverables

  • Coordinate with Central Expense Management & FP&A to provide reporting and appropriate variance analysis for the business unit

Supports the budget & expense forecasting process:

  • Coordinate with the expense management team and business unit functions to support various planning activities

  • Help identify potential expense savings and productivities through pro-active analysis

  • Work within established timelines and supports management reporting tasks for Senior Management review

Responsible for monthly accounting entries:

  • Support the expense team through ledger analysis and perform various accounting entries during month-end close

  • Conduct ad hoc analysis to identify drivers and impact of expense movements

  • Work with the business unit and accounts payable / procurement to process invoices and create POs as needed, while monitoring actual activity aligned with month-end close exercises

What you will bring with you:

  • Strong Excel, PowerPoint and presentation skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work indeadline-oriented environmentmanaging multiple priorities

  • Ability to identify issues or opportunities and synthesize data to present findings & recommendations

  • Detail-oriented and focused on accuracy

  • Ability to positively work cross-functionally

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to manage competing priorities work effectively and independently within time constraints

  • Business specific knowledge/experience a plus

  • High level of integrity and confidentiality

  • Proficiency in/exposure to Essbase, Hyperion Planning, Tableau, SAP, & SQL or comfortable quickly learning new technologies

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or an equivalent quantitative field

  • 3+ years of Finance experience

  • Experience in Expense Management or FP&A a plus

  • Knowledge of the insurance and financial services industry a plus

Salary Range: $61,500 - $92,300

Your actual base salary will be determined based on your unique skills, qualifications, experience, education, and geographic location. In addition to your base salary, this position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive award based on your individual performance as well as the overall performance of the business.
